philosophy & background

I am passionate about contemporary art and believe there is nothing more powerful than original artwork to express our personal style and give other people an appreciation of who we are.  At the same time, art enriches our lives and can be a  stimulus for enhanced creativity, community-building, and positive social change.

THRILLED BY CHANGE, DISCOVERY AND GROWTH….

Migrating from working as a management consultant to becoming an independent business owner in fine art, has been an exceptional journey.

It all began in 2007 when I took my heart in my hands and left my management consulting career working with Fortune 500 clients to become a full time professional in the fine art world.

After serving as the executive director of  the Contemporary Arts Center in Las Vegas for two years, I came to Los Angeles to open my own fine art business and launched  my gallery in August 2010 in San Pedro, the hippest edge of Los Angeles.

How did I get here…

I grew up with two older brothers in a quaint little town near Stuttgart, a southern German city, and home to Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

Many of my youthful years were spent competing in tennis and track & field, the latter being more successful, though less enjoyable, than the former. These years were formative for a disciplined life style and a deep appreciation for unbounded ambition and hard work to be the best in your own discipline.

After graduating with a degree in Business and Information Technology from the University of Stuttgart, I would ordinarily have followed in my father’s footsteps and gone to work for one of the local car manufacturers. I decided otherwise.  After several years implementing software systems in Europe, I received a job offer from a management consulting firm in the US. I emigrated to the US in 1998.

After living in Philadelphia for five years, I moved to New York City where I continued to work as a management consultant while simultaneously completing my degree in Arts Administration at New York University, in which I graduated in 2006.

Along came 2007 and with it the courage for my long anticipated career change. This brought me to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I spent two years reinvigorating a 20 year old contemporary arts center. This was an incredibly instructive and productive period, and vindicated my decision to make fine arts my career – not just my passion.

After this first stepping stone I moved to Southern California in the summer of 2009 to establish my own fine art business.

I am a native of Germany; I enjoy Permanent Resident Alien status in the US, and am pleased to call Rolling Hills in Southern California my home.

Why the visual fine arts…

While my parents were busy building their own collection, they never missed to discuss every purchase with their children. I remember vivid discussions about many of the acquired pieces, defending my own opinion and taste. The seed was planted then and I bought my first artwork when I was 16 years old.

I acquired knowledge, taste and hunger for contemporary art through my countless visits to galleries and museums in Europe and the US. I never missed an opportunity to experience art as I traveled the globe.

My myriad visual experiences were invested with historical context by studying at such acclaimed institutions as the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum, and by assembling my own collection.

Art has been a stimulant all my life and never failed to safeguard my inner balance.

Let art be part of your life, it’s healthy, has live cultures, probiotics and zero calories
